Summer is my favorite time of year, but when you work in an office, or need to dress is business or business casual attire, it can be tough. When you live and/or work in the city, just getting to and from work can be a very hot and sweaty endeavor. It’s not cute.
However, in my experience, most business formal offices turn business casual in the summer, because of this challenge. Additionally, the requirements for women’s office attire have loosed up over the years. For example, when I started my career in financial services ten years ago, it wasn’t really ever suitable for women to expose their shoulders. Today, shoulders in the summer are becoming more and more acceptable, which is very nice.
This is an outfit I love to wear in the summer. This white sheath can be worn as a base for so many different outfits. It is such a great closet staple, I have had it for YEARS.
I paired it with this new braided-trim jacket, which is nice and light and feels slightly nautical and preppy. The trim details is so simple and pretty. And, it doesn’t wrinkle easily, so you could throw it in your tote or over your arm for easy commuting.
This is one of my favorite outfits to wear this season, but its so simple and classic, it can be worn for years to come!
