We had great four days in San Diego with college friends. We flew out to attend a wedding at Orfila Vineyards & Winery in Escondido. It was a beautiful wedding for an awesome couple, and we couldn’t have had a better time.
Where we stayed
We stayed in an Air BnB in the Muirlands area of La Jolla. The location and house were great, and the views were spectacular. The neighborhood was very quiet and residential. I definitely would stay in that area again.
Where we ate
We spent most of our time in Pacific Beach, because it was so close and convenient.
Better Buzz: A very cute and trendy coffee shop that serves delicious sandwiches, açaí bowls, and smoothies. I had the B.A.B.B. sandwich, which was bacon, almond butter, and banana with maple syrup. It was absolutely delicious. I am going to start making this at home. Also, the coffee is very good, so the place is very popular. You will not get in and out of here quickly, but it is definitely worth the trip.
Mavericks: This is a mostly outdoor bar and restaurant that is pretty expansive. There are a few different areas to sit throughout the venue, like Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, high tops, bar seats, and a couch in front of an outdoor fireplace with a TV above. We came here for drinks one night and came back the next day for lunch, because Crushed (see below) had a long wait. To eat, we had burrito bowls, which were very good and fresh. To drink, I had a spicy margarita and a sangria. Both were very good, but the sangria was my favorite. It was one of the best I’ve ever had.
Lean and Green – They have smoothies, açaí bowls, and breakfast burritos. The burritos are pretty standard, and my smoothie was delicious.
There is a restaurant called Crushed, that looked very good and was always packed. The food looked amazing, and they have mimosa flights, which is so cool. I wish we could have eaten there. It’s on my list for next time!
How we got around
Bird electric scooters: You rent these just like you would a Citibike or Limebike, with an app. These go pretty fast, and they are a fun alternative to biking. We took these out a couple times, and zoomed around the Pacific Beach coast. It was a great way to see a lot in a short period of time.
