Any woman who works in Corporate America or a formal office environment knows that navigating the dress code can be challenging, especially when it comes to events after hours. Additionally, in the summer, a lot of firms switch over to business casual attire to offer employees relief from the summer heat and humidity, which is awesome, but then what do you wear to a summer office outing, such as a picnic or clambake? You definitely don’t want to be too casual, but you also don’t want to be too buttoned up or uncomfortable. So what to do???

This dress is my pick! And recently, I wore this to a work event at the Saratoga Race Course. If you’ve ever been to a race track (or Kentucky Derby party), you know it has it’s own vibe and style, but I think it would easily work at other events, too. It’s bright and summery yet work appropriate, because the length is long and the top part isn’t revealing. You could also throw a white cardigan or jacket over it if it was a bit cool.

Bonus: It comes in tall, too!
